System Overview
Functional Scope of AMOS
AMOS ("Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering System") provides an integrated software solution that is able to manage the complex maintenance, engineering and logistic requirements of any modern airline. The system consists of eight closely interrelated modules administered in one relational database:
Despite its modular architecture, the high degree of integration of the different modules in one system ensures that data have to be entered only once; hence inconsistencies are reduced, while productivity and data quality are guaranteed.
History
The system has steadily grown over more than 15 years with the result that AMOS - in its third generation - covers by now the broad spectrum of MRO business functions. AMOS originally has been developed by the IT department of CROSSAIR (now SWISS), i.e. in direct contact with airline staff an extremely user-friendly, online system has been designed. Today Swiss-AS and the SWISS Technical department form a win-win community. While the SWISS Technical department is keen to see their system requirements reproduced in the system as unbureaucratically as possible, Swiss-AS appreciates the fact being embedded in an active user environment that helps to capture MRO industry trends at an early stage.
Today, from the point of view of computer technology as well as functionality AMOS is considered to be the market-leading software package for managing today’s complex maintenance demands of aircraft and components.
